Black Enterprise Names Xerox Among the Best for Diversity

STAMFORD, Conn., June 12, 2007 -- Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) has been recognized for its commitment to diversity and named among the "2007 Best Companies for Diversity" by Black Enterprise magazine. Xerox was also named among the 15 best companies in senior management and corporate board diversity, and the company ranked among the top 30 percent of respondents in supplier diversity. Xerox has been on Black Enterprise's "Best Companies for Diversity" list since its 2005 inception.
"With three African Americans as division presidents, including the recent promotion of Ursula Burns to president, it is evident Xerox is not afraid to elevate minorities to its top ranks," reported Black Enterprise editors in the cover story on the "Best Companies," which will appear in the July issue.

To develop its third annual list, Black Enterprise editors evaluated more than 1,000 companies according to several criteria, including supplier diversity and representation of "ethnic minorities" across the employee base, within senior management, and on the board of directors. The term "ethnic minorities" pertained to African Americans, Native American/Alaska Native, Asian/Pacific Islander and Hispanic/Latino. Information about women, gays, lesbians, transsexuals and the disabled was used as secondary criteria. Only 40 companies were included on the "Best Companies" list.

In examining the data, Black Enterprise focused on:

percentage of total procurement spending allocated to African Americans and other ethnic groups

minority executive representation as a percentage of all senior management positions, including corporate offices,

diversity of the board of directors; and

percentage of minority employees as a percentage of total employee base.
Xerox frequently has been acknowledged as a top employer for its workplace opportunities and practices as well as its commitment to diversity and social responsibility. It is the third year that Xerox earned recognition from Black Enterprise. Other organizations citing the company this year include DiversityInc magazine, Hispanic Magazine, the Human Rights Campaign and the National Association for Female Executives.
